Contract Turkey Farmers Affected by Coronavirus Losses Eligible for Payments

The National Turkey Federation (NTF) welcomed today’s announcement that USDA will provide additional assistance to contract turkey farmers through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP 2).

“No industry has escaped the economic challenges of COVID-19, including turkey farming families across the country,” said Joel Brandenberger, NTF president. “The announcement today by Secretary Perdue and Under Secretary Northey expanding eligibility to contract turkey farmers for CFAP 2 payments is welcome news. This expanded eligibility recognizes the losses many contract turkey farmers experienced in 2020 as a result of the pandemic and will provide some assistance as they continue in their mission to feed American families. NTF looks forward to working with USDA as implementation of this program moves forward in the coming weeks.”
