Holiday Green Bean Casserole



4 c cut fresh green beans OR 20 oz frozen cut green beans

1 Can (10-3/4 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup

1/2 c milk

1/2 c chopped red bell pepper

1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper

3/4 c shredded Cheddar cheese, DIVIDED

1-1/3 c fried onion rings, DIVIDED



Bring broth to boil in a large saucepan. Add beans and simmer, in covered pan, just until beans are tender, about 5-8 minutes. Drain beans.

Meanwhile mix soup, milk, chopped bell pepper, black pepper, 1/2 cup cheese and 2/3 cup onions in a 1-1/2 quart baking dish. Stir in cooled beans and mix well.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 25 minutes or until the mixture bubbles. Sprinkle mixture with remaining 2/3 cup onions and 1/4 cup cheese.

Bake 5 additional minutes or until the cheese melts. Allow to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
