1 lb GROUND TURKEY
1 Whole egg, slightly beaten
1/2 c onion, chopped
2 tbsp fine breadcrumbs
1 Clove garlic, peeled and chopped
1 tbsp milk
Salt and pepper To Taste
3 tbsp cooking oil
1-1/2 tbsp flour
1-1/2 c cold water
1 tbsp minced parsley, for garnish
In a bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. Add salt and pepper to taste; mix well. Gently shape mixture into 1-1/2- to 2-inch diameter meatballs.
In a large, heavy skillet, thoroughly brown meatballs in hot oil over moderate heat; cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until turkey turns from pink to white.
Remove meatballs with a slotted spoon; transfer to a serving platter, cover, and keep warm.
Prepare gravy. Blend flour into remaining hot pan drippings until smooth. With a wire whisk, blend in cold water. Cook, stirring constantly, over moderate heat until bubbly hot and slightly thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with minced parsley.
Variations: Add 2 tablespoons chili sauce, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, or 2 to 3 drops hot sauce to turkey mixture. Prepare as previously directed, omitting gravy and parsley.
