Southwestern Turkey Tacos

Ingredients

3 oz canola oil

6 lbs GROUND TURKEY

1-1/2 lbs onions, chopped

1-1/2 qt tomato sauce

2 tsp ground cumin

3 tbsp chili powder

1-1/2 tsp salt

3 tbsp garlic powder

48 corn taco shells

1-1/2 lbs Cheddar cheese, shredded

2 Large heads iceberg lettuce, shredded

24 oz prepared salsa

Directions


 



1. Heat oil. Add ground turkey and onions and sauté 4 to 6 minutes until an internal temperature of 165 degrees F is reached and turkey is no longer pink and the onions are translucent.


2. Add tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder, salt and garlic powder. Cook 20 minutes or until flavors are blended and turkey mixture is thickened.


3. At service, fill taco shells with turkey mixture.


4. Serve each portion with 1-ounce cheese, 3/4-ounce lettuce and 1-ounce salsa. Each portion includes 2 tacos.
