1-1/2 lbs GROUND TURKEY
1/4 c onion, finely chopped
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
6 slices TURKEY BACON, crisply cooked and crumbled
1 c shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 c thinly sliced button mushrooms, well cleaned
2 green onions, finely chopped (including green tops)
1/4 c light mayonnaise
6 hamburger buns, lightly toasted
Tortilla chips As needed
Preheat grill or broiler for medium, direct heat.
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, onion, garlic and pepper. Mix gently, but well. Shape into 6 patties.
Bacon and Cheese Topping
In a small bowl, combine bacon, cheese, mushrooms, green onion and mayonnaise. Mix well.
Grill or broil burgers 4 to 6 inches from heat for 10 - 12 minutes, turning once. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
During the last several minutes of cooking, spoon 1/4 cup cheese topping on top each burger. Continue cooking until cheese is melted.
Serve on toasted hamburger buns. Serve with tortilla chips.
