2 tbsp garlic flavored olive oil
1 tbsp unsalted butter
3 Large sweet onions, peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch rings
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
Salt and freshly ground black pepper To taste
2 lbs GROUND TURKEY
2 Large eggs, beaten
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and freshly ground black pepper As needed
6 Each hamburger buns, buttered and grilled
Leafy green salad As needed
In a large, heavy skillet, heat oil and butter over medium-low heat. Stir in onions and coat with oil mixture.
Cover and slowly cook until onions are soft, about 10-13 minutes. Add sugar and cook about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Stir in vinegar, salt and pepper. Cook until onions are soft and golden brown.
Remove from pan and hold for service.
Measure 1/2 cup caramelized onions and dice onions into small pieces.
Mix onions, ground turkey, beaten eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently to blend.
Form into six burgers.
Per order: Grill turkey burgers over medium direct heat until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
Place cooked turkey burgers on buns and top with remaining caramelized onions. Serve with a leafy green salad.
