Ingredients

For the sauce

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

1/2 c apple cider vinegar

1/3 c honey

3 tbsp molasses

1/4 c tomato paste

3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp smoked paprika

Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the sliders

Vegetable oil, for brushing grill grates

1 1/2 lbs ground turkey or shredded turkey breast

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

8 slider buns

Directions

To prepare the sauce: To a small saucepan, add the tomato sauce, vinegar, honey, molasses, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and smoked paprika. Use a small whisk to combine ingredients and simmer over medium heat until thickened, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper and set aside to cool slightly.

To prepare the sliders using ground turkey: Place ground turkey in a large mixing bowl and season with salt and pepper; mix gently to combine. Divide ground turkey into 8, 3-ounce portions and form into patties. Brush grill grates with a thin coating of oil using a silicone pastry brush. Grill the turkey patties approximately 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165F on an instant-red thermometer. Using a silicone brush, coat the top of the patty with the barbecue sauce.

To prepare the slider using turkey breast: Season the turkey breast and sear until brown on all sides.Finish turkey in 400-degree over until temperature reaches 165 F. Let cool and then shred turkey, heat in sauce pan with barbecue sauce. Spoon on slider buns and add cheese if desired.
