Heartland Turkey Ham and Corn Chowder



3 tbsp vegetable oil

3 c chopped onion

2 c red bell pepper, seeded and chopped

1/2 c flour

2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

3 qt milk

3 lbs frozen hash brown potatoes

1 #10 Can cream style golden corn

2-1/2 lbs TURKEY HAM, cut into 1/2-inch cubes


Over medium-high heat, sauté onions and red pepper in hot oil until translucent.

Blend in flour and pepper. Cook for a few minutes until lightly golden brown. Reduce heat and slowly add milk, stirring constantly. Stir until thickened.

Add potatoes; bring mixture to boil, stirring constantly. Stir in corn and turkey ham; return mixture to boil.

Immediately reduce heat to low and simmer soup until potatoes are tender and mixture has thickened.
