Ingredients

1 tbsp canola oil

2/3 lb sweet red onions, chopped

2 tbsp sugar

1/8 tsp each kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

3 tbsp raspberry vinegar

3 tbsp red wine vinegar

4 (4-oz) prepared BARBECUE FLAVORED TURKEY BURGERS

4 whole wheat burger buns

Freshly cracked black pepper As needed

Directions

Red Onion Confit

In a large non-reactive pan, heat oil over medium-low heat. Stir in onions, sugar, kosher salt and pepper and sauté. Cover and cook until onions are tender and translucent, about 15-20 minutes.

Uncover and add vinegars. Increase heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly, until liquid has evaporated, about 8-10 minutes. Cool slightly.

Turkey Burgers

Preheat grill or broiler. Cook burgers, 4 inches from the heat, turning only once.

Cook for 4 to 6 minutes per side until cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F in the center of the burger.

Toast the rolls. Place the cooked turkey burgers atop the bottom half of each roll.

Top with Red Onion Confit. Add cracked black pepper and serve immediately.
