Ingredients

3 tbsp canola oil

2 lbs sweet red onions, chopped

1/3 c sugar

1/4 tsp kosher salt

1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1/2 c raspberry vinegar

1/2 c red wine vinegar

12 4-oz BARBECUE FLAVORED TURKEY BURGERS, commercial product

12 whole wheat burger buns

Freshly cracked black pepper As needed

Red Onion Confit



In a large non-reactive pan, heat oil over medium heat. Stir in onions, sugar, kosher salt and ground pepper and saute. Cover and cook until onions are tender and translucent, about 30 minutes.


Uncover and add vinegars. Cook, stirring constantly, until liquid has evaporated, about 12-15 minutes. Cool slightly.




Turkey Burger



Preheat grill or broiler. Cook burgers about 4 inches from the heat turning only once. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes per side until cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F in the center of the burger.


Toast the rolls. Place the cooked turkey burgers atop the bottom half of each roll. Top with Red Onion Confit. Add cracked black pepper and serve immediately.
